Three ways to reverse text

Reverse text changes the order of visible characters: Hello world! becomes !dlrow olleH. It keeps the original letter shapes. Use this mode for backwards messages, word puzzles or checking a palindrome.

Reverse word order moves whole words: Hello world! becomes world! Hello. Spaces and line breaks stay in their original slots, while punctuation travels with the word it belongs to.

Reverse each word keeps the sentence order but writes each word backwards: Hello world! becomes olleH !dlrow. Spaces and line breaks stay in place.

Emoji, accents and line breaks

A visible character can contain several Unicode code points. A family emoji, a flag and a letter with a combining accent should stay together when text is reversed. In modern browsers, this tool groups these sequences using Unicode grapheme segmentation before reversing them.

The full-text mode reverses line breaks along with the rest of the string, so the last line becomes the first. The two word modes retain whitespace positions. Very old browsers without Intl.Segmenter use a simpler fallback that keeps combining accents together but may separate complex emoji.

Reverse text vs upside-down and mirrored text

Backwards text only changes order. Upside-down text also replaces letters with turned lookalikes, such as a becoming ɐ. Mirrored text substitutes reflected lookalikes. Use the upside-down generator when you want the shapes to change as well.

Reversing Arabic or Hebrew changes the stored character order; the app you paste into still applies its normal right-to-left display rules. This tool is a sequence reversal, not a way to set writing direction. It also does not encrypt a message or hide a spoiler reliably.
