Fancy text not working? Here is what to check

Copied fonts can behave differently in every app. Match your problem to the fixes below, then check the saved result where you plan to use it.

Updated

Empty boxes or question marks instead of letters

A box usually means the device displaying your text has no font that can draw that character. Copying it again does not install a missing font on the reader’s phone. A style that looks right on your device can still fail on another device.

Try a simple style such as bold or small caps, then check the saved text on the destination app. If readers still see boxes, use ordinary letters for the name or message and reserve symbols for a short decorative line.

The app rejects a name or removes its styling

Two separate things can happen. A username field may reject characters outside its allowed set. A field may also accept your paste but change it when you save. Display names and bios often allow more characters than account handles, but the destination app decides what to keep.

Some systems apply Unicode compatibility normalization (NFKC). For example, 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 becomes Hello. Other systems separately filter symbols or combining marks. Normalization and filtering are different operations: NFKC does not automatically remove strikethrough marks.

Paste the result, save it, and reopen the profile to check what survived. Keep a plain-text version of your name for search and identification. For a game that charges for a rename, check the naming rules before purchasing a change.

Copy does not work on your phone or browser

Tap Copy and look for the Copied confirmation. If the clipboard permission is denied, select the generated text, use your device’s Copy command, and paste it manually. Do not copy the style’s label or the entire page.

If a clipboard button fails in a social app’s embedded browser, open this site in your regular browser. Browser privacy settings and clipboard permissions can affect automatic copying. Manual selection remains an option.

A bio or name hits its character limit early

Visible characters, Unicode code points and UTF-16 units are different counts. One bold mathematical letter uses one code point and two UTF-16 units. A letter with a strikethrough uses a base letter plus a combining mark. A joined emoji can contain several code points while looking like one character.

Apps do not all count the same way. Use the destination field’s counter as the final check. Shorten the styled part first, remove stacked effects, and keep contact details in ordinary letters. The examples below are calculated from the actual text, rather than assuming a particular platform’s counting rule.

Why numbers, accents or some letters stay unchanged

A Unicode style does not contain a matching version of every character. Script and blackletter have no corresponding set of styled digits. Subscript has only part of the Latin alphabet. This generator leaves characters without a match unchanged.

Most letter substitutions on this site target the basic Latin alphabet A–Z and a–z. They do not convert every writing system or every accented letter into a new alphabet. If a consistent appearance matters more than copyable text, use a real font in an image or document editor.

A line looks broken, or a screen reader reads the text oddly

Combining underline and strikethrough are drawn by the destination font. Their line width and position can differ between apps. Keeping the base letters does not guarantee that searching for the plain word will match: a search system may compare the marks too.

Use native formatting where it is available. In Discord messages, **text** makes bold and ~~text~~ makes strikethrough. In WhatsApp messages, *text* makes bold and ~text~ makes strikethrough. These formatting markers are app-specific; they are not a universal way to format bios.

Styled mathematical letters were designed as distinct characters, so assistive technology can announce their mathematical names or handle them differently from ordinary letters. Keep essential instructions, prices, contact details and searchable names in plain text. Use decoration alongside that text.

Frequently asked questions

Can a fancy text generator make every app support my font?

No. The generator produces Unicode characters. Each app chooses its fonts, allowed characters and counting rules. Check the saved result in the destination app.

Why does styled text become normal text after saving?

The destination may apply compatibility normalization, such as NFKC, which maps many styled letters to ordinary letters. It may also filter characters separately.

Will changing my browser fix boxes for other people?

No. A missing glyph is a problem on the device displaying the text. Use a simpler style or ordinary letters if your audience cannot read it.

Does bold Unicode double every app’s character count?

No. Mathematical bold letters use two UTF-16 units, but one code point each. The destination app’s counting method determines how they affect its limit.
